The Sunrise Royal Makadi Resort is a popular all-inclusive destination for holidaymakers looking to either relax in the sun or experience the thrills of the hotels large aqua park. The hotel features five swimming pools and several buffet restaurants. Although many holidaymakers enjoy a trouble free experience at the Sunrise Royal there are still unfortunately many cases of holiday illness reported.
The most common form of holiday illness reported are bacterial and parasitic bugs such as Salmonella, E.Coli and Cryptosporidiosis. These are usually caused from food poisoning or coming into contact with unclean food and water.
Although the Sunrise Royal promotes a strong Environmental Policy this still does not stop them from using wastewater to irrigate its gardens. A landfill site is located next to the hotel and could be the cause of many illnesses due to birds and other pests travelling between it and the hotel.
Whilst staying in the Sunrise Royal Makadi Resort it is important to follow these guidelines to reduce the risk of food poisoning and other holiday illnesses:
- Avoid foods not cooked thoroughly and/or re-heated incorrectly.
- Avoid foods not prepared hygienically.
- Avoid food not stored at the correct temperature
- Frequently use an alcohol-based hand gel.
- Avoid salads and any uncooked fruits and vegetables (these may have been handled unhygienically)
- Avoid swimming in water or pools that appear dirty and untreated.
In the event that you do get ill Sickholiday advise that you seek medical attention whilst on holiday as this will greatly increase your chances of making an eligible claim upon your return.
