Sold as the place to go for water-based thrills and spills, the Aqua Blu Hotel in the Sharm El Sheikh region of Egypt is a part of the lively Aqua Park City waterpark. Featuring nine outdoor swimming pools, buffet restaurants and over a dozen bars the complex attracts many visitors each year. Unfortunately many holidaymakers do not get to enjoy the many facilities on offer due to falling ill whilst on their all-inclusive holiday.

The large amount of buffet restaurants and swimming pools, coupled with poor hygiene standards have unfortunately led to many holidaymakers experiencing illness. Symptoms reported have included Diarrhoea, fever and stomach cramps. A holiday illness can not only ruin a family holiday but also prove costly in over the counter medicines.
This illness can be contracted by coming into contact with pool water that can sometimes contain traces of infected faecal matter. Whilst staying in the Aqua Blu Sharm Hotel it is important to follow these guidelines to reduce the risk of Shigella and other holiday illnesses:
- Avoid foods not cooked thoroughly and/or re-heated incorrectly.
- Avoid foods not prepared hygienically.
- Avoid food not stored at the correct temperature
- Frequently use an alcohol-based hand gel.
- Avoid salads and any uncooked fruits and vegetables (these may have been handled unhygienically)
- Avoid swimming in water or pools that appear dirty and untreated.
